How to Prep for Your House Wash Appointment
By Delta Softwash
Once you have an appointment on the books with Delta Softwash, there are a few simple things you can do beforehand that make the whole process smoother for you, your property, and our crew. None of it takes much time, but it can make a real difference in how the day goes.
The Day Before Your Appointment
Clear the Perimeter
Walk around your home and move anything you would not want to get wet away from the exterior walls. Patio furniture, potted plants, grills, décor, and toys should be shifted a few feet back or moved entirely if possible. Our team also takes precautions on site, but giving us a clear path around the house speeds things up and protects your belongings.
Close Windows and Doors
Make sure all windows are shut tightly, including any that are cracked for ventilation. This keeps water and cleaning solution from getting inside during the wash.
Move Vehicles
If cars are parked in the driveway or close to the house, moving them to the street or a nearby spot gives our crew room to work and keeps overspray away from your vehicle.
Taking Care of Plants and Landscaping
Soft washing is safe for landscaping when it is done correctly, and our team pre-wets and rinses plants around the treatment area as part of our process. That said, if you have particularly delicate or prized plants close to the house, whether it is a rose bed in Fairhope or hydrangeas along a Daphne front porch, let us know ahead of time so we can give those areas extra attention or cover them if needed.
Pets and Kids
Our cleaning solutions are applied and rinsed in a way that is safe once dry, but we recommend keeping pets and kids inside or away from the work area while the crew is actively washing. This just keeps everyone comfortable and out of the way of hoses and equipment.
Access Matters
- Make sure gates are unlocked so we can reach the backyard and side areas
- Let us know about any dogs that will be in the yard
- Point out an outdoor water spigot if you have a preference on which one we use
- Flag any areas of concern, like loose siding, screens, or recent repairs
What to Expect During the Wash
Our crew will apply a soft wash solution at low pressure, let it dwell to break down algae, mildew, and dirt, and then rinse everything clean. The whole process is much quieter and gentler than pressure washing, and most homeowners are surprised at how little disruption there is. Depending on the size of your home and what services you booked, a typical visit runs anywhere from an hour to a few hours.
After We Leave
Your siding, roof, or driveway may look slightly different as it dries, since wet and dry surfaces reflect light differently. Give it a few hours to fully dry to see the true results. If you notice anything you have questions about, just give us a call.
